On January 28 and 29, 2017, MyJustice supported the Yangon Justice Centre and the University Legal Clinic to undertake a strategic planning workshop at the Novotel Yangon Max in Yangon as part of a longer term process of planning to strengthen the Centre’s effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.
U Kyaw Myint, the Project Director of the Yangon Justice Centre and the University Legal Clinic, delivered the opening remarks, and encouraged his team to reflect not only on their achievements, but also on what changes may be made to strengthen their delivery of legal aid. “We have seized the opportunity to provide legal aid, and have achieved many successes, contributing to the rule of law. Based on learning from the weaknesses of the past, we have to find out what we should do for the future.”
In the workshop, the staff and leadership of the Justice Centre engaged in exercises aimed at building a unified understanding of vision, mission and values, and learned to use tools such as a SWOT analysis to critically and strategically consider what decisions and actions the organisation should make.
MyJustice will continue to support the Yangon Justice Centre and the University Legal Clinic’s on-going strategic planning efforts. Moreover, MyJustice will conduct the same workshop with Mawlamyaing Justice Centre on February 4 and 5 in Thatone Township in Mon State.
