1. Call for Proposals:
A growing body of research in Myanmar provides strong evidence that violence against women, particularly in intimate partner relationships, is prevalent and significantly underreported. Women facing intimate partner violence tend not to report domestic abuse to the local authority or to formal justice actors at all. The existing legal framework also fails to provide adequate support for victims of domestic abuse to bring claims. This leaves women suffering from intimate partner violence with the option of filing a private prosecution of her spouse – an impossible option for most, not only because such an act would be viewed to transgress social norms, but also because they have neither the legal knowledge or financial means to pursue it. Finally few, if any services – medical, psycho-social, legal – are available for women who decide to seek advice and assistance in navigating options and decisions in the face of violence. Very little is also known about the quality or access to legal support services for women facing violence. The few women’s organisations addressing the issue have little documentation to share, so it is hard to assess how effective even these services are for women facing violence.
Given the complexity of these challenges, MyJustice believes that support is necessary to strengthen local capacities to (1) strengthen women’s and girls’ awareness of their rights as well as community awareness and sensitivity around gender-based violence in a way that engages with, and works to overcome social and cultural norms which serve as a most persistent barrier to access justice, for women, as well as (2) increase availability of and linkages to crucial services – including medical, psycho-social, paralegal and legal counselling and assistance – for women and girls in need.
MyJustice is, therefore, inviting applications for a grant to support interested organisations in achieving these objectives.

2. Call for proposals:
Produce two short films during a partner forum event being hosted by MyJustice; one about the forum event and one film featuring different partner voices and their engagement with access to justice issues through the MyJustice programme
My justice will be convening a Partners’ Forum to bring together MyJustice partners implementing various parts of an access to justice programme in six states and regions of Myanmar, including civil society organisations, other partners working on justice issues in Myanmar, as well as some regional and international access to justice practitioners to share experiences and learn from each other. The film about the Partner’s Forum will be aimed at profiling the event and the core discussions and the second film will profile the range of people and organisations involved in the MyJustice programme and show the passion and enthusiasm they bring to the table to work on access to justice issues, and their vision of how their work is contributing to change in Myanmar.
The MyJustice Partner Forum will take place on 7 and 8 December 2017 in Yangon and the filming is expected to take place during the forum, but the films require a pre-production phase to plan how exactly partners will be profiled and what questions will be asked and what devices will be used to capture their thoughts and perspectives.
